Juvenile Law

The firm’s juvenile law practice grows out of its service to families and family members.  The bulk of our juvenile practice centers on the representation of parents, step-parents, grandparents and children.  We represent parents facing petitions alleging abuse, neglect and dependency of their children and we represent parents, step-parents, grandparents, and other relatives seeking guardianship or custody of minors.  We represent individuals threatened with child protective orders.  We also pursue child protective orders on behalf of our clients, and we institute  private abuse, neglect, and dependency actions.

The firm also represents juveniles who face adjudication for charges of shoplifting, theft, simple assault, or drug possession.  In appropriate circumstances, the firm pursues and defends against the extinguishment of parental rights and litigates the resulting issues of custody, guardianship, and adoption.  The firm will also seek an adjudication of emancipation for a qualifying minor, if appropriate.  Finally, juvenile court cases often require the assistance of qualified professionals to provide counseling and other services to parents and children.  The firm maintains relationships with numerous psychologists, therapists, counselors and organizations that provide services in conjunction with our legal assistance.
